WyoPanama students play a leading role in a long-term field research project. Several students from previous years are currently analyzing data and preparing manuscripts or public-facing science communication projects! You'll also get to see Panama City, the Canal and the locks, and learn about local culture, along with the rare opportunity to pursue research in one of the world's biodiversity hot spots.

Team research in Panama

Each year, the WyoPanama team builds upon successful exploration and research conducted during previous WyoPanama courses and during summer field seasons by researchers in the labs of Dr. Patrick Kelley, Professor Bethann Merkle, and Dr. Corey Tarwater.

WyoPanama students choose between field ecology and science communication projects to develop du
ring the field component of the course. Students are expected to contribute to and build on original research project within these general research areas.

See the
About page for details about possible projects.
